I swear it should be Friday. I feel like I was just here not too long ago. Wasn't it just Monday...time to clean, time to wash sheets, time to start a new week? Wow...
Our weekend went by fast yet it seemed like a very long weekend. I took off on Friday to my parents house to spend the night and spend Saturday with them. Blake had a project planned here at the house which meant Parke would not have been able to enjoy his naps. I had a cold all last week so a day at my parents house sounded awesome to me since it also means rest for this weary little one! After Parke got up on Saturday morning at 6am I fed him and was able to go back to bed. I didn't go to sleep but the fact I was back in the covers for another hour was beyond exciting :). It was a great day and my brother and Megan came over to hang out too!
I must say, it is REALLY hard for me to be away from Blake. It always has been but now with Parke I just hate to loose any time we might have together as a family. But the separation paid off! We have new framed windows in our bedroom. Let me tell you, they are beautiful! We did the same thing in Parke's room and I want to eventually do all of our windows like this. Blake and I put our Christmas $$ together and have been able to upgrade our room! I'll put pictures of the whole room when we are finished. Blake worked really hard with our friend Ken to get the windows done...Ken almost lost his thumb and they took a trip to the emergency room (I feel just awful about that) and they STILL finished.
Finally, one of my favorite parts about every weekend is when we try and have our quiet time together on Saturday or Sunday morning. It's become part of our w/end routine to wake up, play with Parke etc but when he goes down for his first nap, we break out the coffee, cinnamon rolls and watch a Mark Driscoll sermon together. I'll admit, it's hard for me to turn my little mind off and I have to have Blake pause it a million times for my water trips, bathroom trips, laundry trips etc...BUT we sit as still as we can and enjoy learning together. This is something Blake has brought to the table in the last year and I just can't tell you how thankful I am for it and how much it has grown our marriage and family. Blake is a great leader and I hope his excitement for the word and ability to be still and read will be something Parke see's and inherits. We are currently watching The Trial series. It's really good if you are looking for something to watch during the week.
That's it. It's Monday, Blake's at work, there is snow on the ground and I was sweetly reminded as Parke squirmed all the way through or daily reading and prayer time this morning to enjoy this squirmy little boy every second and to be Oh So Thankful for another Monday!
