Resourceful Dinner

I don't have a picture but I can tell you it's time to get new groceries. I'm choosing to be resourceful and use what we have instead. So, last night we had chicken (shake/bake style) and spinach/cheese tortellini with pesto sauce on it for the side. A recipe called for Shake/Bake a while back and I still had a box of it. I had never done it before then but it's actually pretty good. I'll say the vegetable was the spinach in the tortellini....that count's right?!

So on another note, Blake and I will be discussing all things Santa and Jesus for our Christmas traditions in this house. I hope to carry on some from our families and then some new one's as well. I wonder, If you tell your children the truth about Santa...do you tell them not to tell their friends? Who wants to have the kid that ruins it for other kids? More importantly, I know we want our children to know the real reason for Christmas. Not that you can't do that AND believe in Santa...just considering what we want to do!

I wonder what traditions other families do for Christmas. If you are reading...will you leave a little note and tell us the #1 thing you either remember or want to pass on to your children? I've heard of some pretty fun things.

Thx...I think I have pic's for Wordless Wednesday coming up. :)

hey there, we do the jesse advent tree. it goes through the bible dec 1-24 & reads different stories leading up to jesus' birth. you have a special tree in our house that has our ornaments that go with each story each night. my kids open that special ornament & then we read story. it is so cool. message me if you want more details. We also only give our kids 3 presents representing the gifts that the wisemen brought to jesus. each gift has a special meaning that ties into the gold, frankincense, & myrrh. we also do 1 santa gift. message me if you want more info. i have done a blog for each of these & have them all written out. I hope you find some neat things to do. sorry I listed 2! :)

Scoop and I started something last year we want to continue with our kids whenever they come into the picture. We pick a verse that we will pray for the other throughout the next year and on Christmas Eve we share that verse/blessing with each other. It's interesting because the things we prayed over each other, we have really seen come to fruition this past year. We bought a journal tonight we will write them in. So when we have kids, we will pick a verse out for them we will pray over them for that year.
